Wilton Cake Decorating Class (Course 1)

This month I took my very first cake decorating class! It was the Wilton’s Cake Decorating class, Course 1 at Michaels. It was a 4 week course and my mom and I had to go to the class every Friday. The course started on February 1st and ended yesterday on Feb. 22nd. It was a lot of work as we had to bake something every week. But it was worth it. I learned a lot of information  that I didn’t know about baking.

First Class:

For the first class we had to bake (Or buy) 6  cookies at home and bring it to the class. I baked my favorite butter cookies. We were taught how to frost the cookies with the star tip. (Sorry, I don’t have any pics for this class.)

Second Class:

The next class we had to bake 2 cakes at home and bring it to class for a layer cake. I  made this cake for the 2nd class. We learned how to pipe borders and how to use different tips. My cake was vanilla and my mom’s was chocolate cake.

Third Class:

For the third class we had to bake 6 cupcakes. I made the same valentine’s day cupcakes that were in the last post. We learned how to make drop flowers, rosettes, shaggy mums, and pompom flowers.

Fourth Class:

For the final class we were supposed to bring either a 1 or 2 layer cake already iced. We got cool certifactes 🙂 even though they spelled my last name wrong :(. This is the final cake we made for the last week. My cake was vanilla again and my mom’s was chocolate. We learned how to write and how to pipe really pretty roses.

I thought this was a really good experience even though they spelled my last name with an E instead of an S. :/
