Graduation Day Mini Cupcakes

Yeah, It’s that time of the year again! Students are graduating from school and moving on to the next stage of their life. I want to especially congratulate all of you who have graduated. I myself have just graduated middle school which is very exciting.

(I’ve added a couple of my middle school promotion pics down towards the end of the post)

For our last week of school, I wanted to make something special since it was also going to be my last week in middle school. Last year, I had made these  graduation day cake pops for a neighbor that turned out to be pretty cute. So I decided to do something similar this year but with cupcakes.

Instead of regular size cupcakes I used the mini ones as I wanted to share them with rather large amount of people (the students and teachers) at school.

I made classic red velvet cupcakes with vanilla cream cheese frosting cause I knew everyone would love them :). For the decoration, I made cute little graduation caps out of fondant and yellow mini m&ms. They were super easy to make. I just cut out strips of blue and black fondant and wrapped pieces of the strips into cylinder shapes. I then cut squares of fondant and attached them to the tops of the cylinders using water as the glue. I used the mini m&ms and very thin strips of yellow fondant for the tassel.

These cupcakes disappeared before my eyes. One student just couldn’t stop asking for more (if you’re reading this, you know who you are ;)).

My teachers also loved them as much as the students did!

Here are a couple of pics of my 8th grade promotion:
