Crepes have always been a favorite dish of mine whether it was eaten savory or sweet. Although I enjoy both, I think I’d prefer the sweet to the savory (surprise, surprise), so today I have brought to you my favorite whole wheat chocolate strawberry crepes!
Whenever I would go out to have a crepe, chocolate strawberry was always my go to. I just can’t resist chocolate strawberry anything, so I decided to try it out for myself and see how it turned out.
Spoilers: It was AMAZING. The melted chocolate and sweet strawberries were delicious with the warm crepe. Plus I added a sprinkling of cinnamon sugar as the crepe cooked as well. (I can’t resist anything cinnamon sugar either :/)
The basic crepe batter recipe I used is linked here. This crepe recipe also uses whole wheat pastry flour instead of white flour just to sneak in a healthier choice. 😉
While the crepes cooked in the pan, I sprinkled cinnamon sugar so that it would stick to the hot crepes. After, I placed thinly sliced strawberries and melted semi-sweet chocolate in the center and I rolled them up. To garnish, I topped them with more strawberry slices, melted chocolate, and a light dusting of powdered sugar.
These are definitely best eaten hot with the chocolate still melty and the strawberries slightly warm. There are so many more variations you could do. I’ve made these with homemade whipped cream, bananas, and a variety of berries.
