Adding to the list of desserts I made during Thanksgiving week, I made this 50th birthday cake for my mom’s cousin. My whole wheat chocolate coffee cake is a favorite among my family, so I made this along with delicious milk chocolate frosting as the filling.
Cookies are really popular this time of year. There are sugar cookies, chocolate chip cookies, snickerdoodles, gingerbread men, and so many more holiday cookies. I wanted to try something a bit different using two of my favorite ingredients in cookies- oatmeal and brown sugar!
I’m sure there are many recipes out there for brown sugar oatmeal cookies, but it’s usually not the first thing you think of when holiday desserts come up. Well, let me tell you that it should be cause these cookies are absolutely amazing.
I feel like fall has officially started. We finally have weather colder than 85 degrees here in NorCal which means I have an excuse to make as many fall like recipes as I want. I absolutely LOVE fall baking especially if I’m making gingersnaps.
One bite out of these gingersnaps and you’ll taste an explosion of spices and that prominent sweet ginger. It’s basically the definition of fall in your mouth.
Did I mention that they’re gluten free? And refined sugar free? And dairy free? Yup. The best part is that you wouldn’t even know what was missing if you ate one.
Happy Halloween everyone! I don’t know about you, but Halloween is one of my most favorite holidays ever. Not just because of all the candy, but also because of the fun and festive desserts that I can make. I love making Halloween everything- cupcakes, rice krispy treats, cookies, and SO much more.
I’ll admit that I wanted to do so much more for Halloween this year, but unfortunately between school and family visiting, I didn’t have enough time to do that. But, I did manage to make these adorable sugar cookies!
If there’s something you should know about me, it’s that I love anything with coconut. So the obvious dessert I should make were macaroons.
Macaroons are delicious mounds of sweetened coconut, condensed milk, and egg whites. Completely different from macarons, which are yummy French delights.
I have been wanting to make macaroons for a while now. I got my chance when I found myself with leftover egg whites from a recipe that I used that only needed the yolks.
Yet another healthy but equally delicious dessert. I don’t know about you, but I can go for homemade oatmeal chocolate chip cookies anytime of the day.
These cookies are so chewy and you would never believe that there was no processed or refined sugar in them. Also, there’s no dairy or white flour in it as well, instead, I combined whole wheat and coconut flour.
So I normally don’t decorate cookies with royal icing, but when I got an order from my school to make these adorable apple shaped cookies, I couldn’t resist. You see, my school hosts a “Staff Appreciation” day in which a luncheon is organized just for them. I was asked if I could make cookies that looked like apples. I thought that it would be super cute to have these cookies as a part of food buffet that was organized for my teachers, and plus I don’t do enough of decorated cookies, so I said of course!
